SLEEPING SHEEP

The ornament was called
"Sleeping Sheep",
but as far as I know
ornaments don't sleep.

It lay there, eyes closed
on green baize,
but no dreams were there;
no trembling as in fear.

A sightless shepherd
stood nearby,
for ornaments don't see
from eyes, though nice they be.
