MATCHBOX

Thin matches inside me
with red tops, despising safety.
They can't wait to emerge
and light your cigarettes.

They are bundled together,
and their red tops
are like an army
waiting for their call.

I have never counted them,
but I will do one day
and I'll have to do it soon,
before you light your cigarette.
